Ex-Emmerdale star looks unrecognisable 14 years after leaving ITV soap and quitting acting for good

Former Emmerdale star Cleveland Campbell looks virtually unrecognisable 14 years after leaving his role as Danny Daggert.

Emmerdale fans might recall Cleveland’s stint in the soap between 2001 and 2007 as the popular Danny Daggart. Cleveland starred in almost 500 episodes during his spell in ITV soap.

After leaving Emmerdale, Cleveland appeared in The Bill, Doctors and the film Looking for Eric - which revolves around former Leeds United and Manchester United player Eric Cantona.

As our colleagues at the MEN report, Cleveland, 44, originally from Rochdale, has taken a step back from acting in recent years and he currently works as creative director for fashion giant BoohooMAN.

He joined the Manchester-based company in 2016. Cleveland’s LinkedIn page reads: "I specialise in developing businesses via PPC, SEO and Social Media.

"I have won the top business development manager of the year award six years consecutively, I am extremely motivated and work well under pressure, I pride myself on being proactive and always look at different ways to generate business."

As Emmerdale fans will note, Cleveland has a different image to his time on the show.

The former soap actor has grown out his hair and sports a beard and nose ring.

Before he began acting on screens, he completed a performing arts course at Hopwood Hall College Cleveland also started a course in hairdressing at the same college in Rochdale.

During his time in the spotlight, Cleveland dated former Hollyoaks actress Gemma Atkinson. Of course, Gemma also later had a period acting in Emmerdale.

When Cleveland left Emmerdale in 2007 he described the experience as a 'fantastic five years' in which he 'made a lot of very good friends'.
