Ex-EastEnders star's harrowing Casualty HIV storyline leaves viewers heartbroken

Casualty viewers were left heartbroken this evening over Marty Kirby's HIV discovery this evening.

Former EastEnders star Shaheen Jafargholi joined the BBC hospital drama in 2018 as nurse Marty, who hasn't had the easiest time on the soap.

Viewers previously watched as Marty's dad disowned him for being gay in difficult scenes.

And things didn't get any easier for Marty this evening when a hungover Marty turned up for a shift in A&E.

The young nurse was given a nasty shock when he was given the task of treating patient Danny, who he slept with the night before.

However Marty didn't realise that his one night lover was also HIV positive.

The pair had indulged in unprotected sex while taking a cocktail of drugs, which means that there is a high chance that Marty could test positive.
