Ex-EastEnders star John Partridge reveals whether he will return to BBC soap ever again

Christian Clarke is a fan favourite among EastEnders viewers, who are eagerly awaiting news he could one day return to Walford.

And actor John Partridge has revealed whether a return for him is on the cards after his very brief comeback in 2016.

Jane's brother Christian first appeared in Albert Square on January 12 2008 and most of his storylines revolved around his relationship with Syed Masood.

He left the BBC soap in 2012 but briefly returned in 2014 for Lucy Beale's funeral, in 2015 for a live episode about Jane and Ian's wedding and in 2016 after Jane was attacked by Bobby.

A number of stars are set for a Walford comeback, including Patsy Palmer and Lucy Benjamin, and Good Morning Britain host Charlotte Hawkins asked whether he would be joining them.

"Never say never," he said. "But as an actor I want to do new things. As a human I want to try and push myself to do new things and develop myself.

"I loved EastEnders and I'm really, really proud of it. I wouldn't be sat here talking to you without it.

"But it's time to do new things for me."

Since leaving the soap, John has starred in a number of theatre productions including A Chorus Line, Chicago, Sleeping Beauty and, most recently, The View UpStairs.

He rose to fame on stage with his role as Rum Tum Tugger in Cats.

*Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV
