Motherwell have signed former Dundee United midfielder Calum Butcher on a deal until the end of the season.
The 31-year-old brings a wealth of experience, having spent two spells at Tannadice and having played for several clubs in England, and comes from a most recent stint at Burton Albion.
Butcher, who started his career at Tottenham Hotspur, becomes Motherwell's ninth signing of the winter transfer window.
He won't be available for selection against Aberdeen at Pittodrie this afternoon, but will go into training next week with the Steelmen.
His signing comes fewer than 24 hours after Irish defender Dan Casey came in.
Butcher has good knowledge of the Scottish game, having spent two spells at Tannadice.
Motherwell boss Steven Hammell told the club's website: "Similar to Dan, Callum is a player we have liked for a while and been monitoring closely.
"It adds some depth to the middle of the park, but more importantly, he's a different type of midfielder to what we have at the minute.
"He's tough, determined to make a difference, and has plenty knowledge on the league and the team.
"Unfortunately, today's match against Aberdeen has come too soon, due to him travelling up from England, but he will be able to get a good week's training and see where we are next week."
