Ex-Detroit Pistons guard Spencer Dinwiddie destroys his old team, 125-115

BROOKLYN, N.Y. _ Kyrie Irving was the center of attention Wednesday night.

But it was Spencer Dinwiddie reminding Detroit Pistons fans of when their franchise gave up on the sixth-year point guard.

Dinwiddie, the Pistons' 2014 second-round pick, scored 28 points in 29 minutes to help the Nets to a 125-115 victory over the Pistons.

It was Irving's first game since the death of his mentor, Kobe Bryant.

He scored 20 points, five nights after scoring 45 points against the Pistons in an overtime victory at Little Caesars Arena.

When he exited the game late, he pointed to the Barclays Center rafters and was embraced by Nets coach Kenny Atkinson.

Derrick Rose scored 22 points, his 13th straight game with 20-plus points.

Reggie Jackson scored 23 points and Christian Wood added 20 points for the Pistons (17-32), who have lost four straight.

Andre Drummond added 12 points and 13 rebounds.

Jarrett Allen scored 11 points and had four blocked shots for the Nets (20-26).

Rookie Sekou Doumbouya's struggles continued. He started both halves and the Pistons were minus-20 in his eight minutes.

It was the first game at the arena since the death of NBA great Kobe Bryant.

The pregame featured remembrances of Bryant and his daughter, Gianna.

The Nets kept the seats that both sat in at a game earlier this season open.

Irving, who was close with Bryant, missed the Nets' loss to the Knicks on Sunday because of grief.
