Ex Dancing On Ice judge Jason Gardiner claims 2021 series is 'flat and weird'

Jason Gardiner has described this year's Dancing On Ice as "flat and weird" following his exit from the show in 2019.

The 49-year-old choreographer has tried to tune into the 2021 series but clearly isn't enjoying it.

Speaking in a recent interview, Jason said: "I’ve attempted to watch the new series, but it’s not the same show.

"They all look worn down. There’s no one having a laugh. It’s as cold as ice to watch it.

"I think it’s lost the fun element. The energy is very flat and weird. It’s predictable.

"I know all the judges are going to say really nice things — they’re non-provocative. It’s just flat," he added to The Sun.

Jason had his fair share of drama when he was on the judging panel, including a very public feud with 2019 contestant Gemma Collins.

Jason and the 40-year-old Towie star had rather tense slanging matches whenever the judges gave their feedback to the celebrity contestants.

Jason consulted his lawyers after Gemma accused him live on air of "selling stories" about her — a claim he vehemently denied.

Gemma also accused Jason of being a bully because he compared her to a refrigerator.

Speaking about the events of that year, he said: "By the end the show was too toxic.

"I went through some very dark times after it all played out and I realised I wasn’t valued in any way, shape or form by ITV."

Jason and Gemma's clash was shown during the Dancing On Ice highlights show last Sunday.

It also included his bust-ups with Benidorm actor Tim Healy, 69, and choreographer Karen Barber, 59.

Jason was one of the original judges on the ITV show from 2006 until 2011.

He returned to Dancing on Ice for its eighth series in 2013, but the show was cancelled after its ninth series in 2014.

Dancing on Ice continues on Sunday at 6:15pm on ITV.
