A former police officer has been ordered to face court in the coming weeks after a raid at a Newcastle property allegedly uncovered prohibited weapons.
Officers attended a home on Kingfisher Street at Fletcher, on the western fringe of the city, to execute a search warrant on Wednesday, January 7. Police raided the property about 12.30pm.

During the search, officers allegedly discovered two NSW Police extendable batons. Police seized the alleged prohibited weapons.

The former police officer, a 55-year-old man, has now been charged. He was issued a court attendance notice for possessing or using a prohibited weapon without a permit.
The man will face Newcastle Local Court for the first time on the charge in late July.
