Ex-cop accused of inappropriate comments about potential domestic abuse victim

A former police officer accused of failing to treat a potential victim of domestic abuse with compassion or empathy will face a misconduct hearing.

Mark Stickley allegedly made inappropriate, unprofessional or disrespectful comments to the woman, failed to keep an open mind about what he was told and pre-judged the situation.

He is said to have recorded that her ex-partner had not been violent when that was either wrong or contrary to what he was told.

A notice for Mr Stickley’s misconduct hearing said his alleged behaviour would damage the relationship of trust and confidence between the police and the public, and could amount to gross misconduct.

The hearing will be held over Skype on Monday, April 6.
