Ex-Chicago forecaster 'someone to watch' on 'Dancing with the Stars'

April 19--The judges are forecasting former Chicago meteorologist Ginger Zee will go far on "Dancing with the Stars."

"You are someone to watch. You are liquid sunshine," judge Carrie Ann Inaba told Zee during Monday's episode of the ABC dancing competition.

Zee, who worked for WMAQ-Ch. 5 from 2006-11, scored 32 out of 40 points after dancing the salsa with Mark Ballas as part of the contestant "switch-up week" theme. The ABC News chief meteorologist is typically paired with Val Chmerkovskiy.

Former Bears quarterback Doug Flutie also had a good week in the competition, after weeks of low scores from the judges.

Flutie, who played for the Bears from 1986-87, danced the tango with professional partner Peta Murgatroyd. Flutie is usually with Karina Smirnoff.

Though Flutie, 53, worried about forgetting the moves, judges praised his sequence of steps.

"Doug, it wasn't all gold but it wasn't bad at all," judge Bruno Tonioli said. Flutie earned 28 out of 40 points.

No one was eliminated in Monday's episode. The judges' scores and viewer votes will be used to determine who is sent home next week.

Nine couples are competing for the Season 22 mirror ball trophy on the show, which airs 7 p.m. Mondays.
