Ex-Chelsea striker slams 'lazy' Liverpool man for Christian Pulisic's goal

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink labelled Virgil van Dijk 'lazy' after Liverpool squandered a two goal lead in their 2-2 draw with Chelsea on Sunday evening.

Liverpool started the match at Stamford Bridge brightly as Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah gave the Reds a two goal lead.

Chelsea drew level on the stroke of half time as Mateo Kovacic scored a stunning volley before Christian Pulisic levelled the top of the table clash.

The former Chelsea striker criticised Van Dijk 's role in the second goal, highlighting how the Dutch captain didn't do enough to stop Pulisic.

Speaking at half-time on Sky Sports, Liverpool legend Graeme Souness said: “Why has Van Dijk not come across there?

“He’s just running in a straight line back to his goal. Come over, come over, come over – he’s not even sprinting.”

Former Chelsea striker Hasselbaink also slammed Van Dijk for his lack of effort in preventing the goal, saying: “It’s lazy, isn’t it?”

Ex-Red Jamie Carragher instead focused on Liverpool's 'obsession' with keeping a high line and playing the offside trap.

“They’ve got an obsession, Liverpool’s centre-backs, you see this a lot where they always stay in line with each other," Carragher added.

“They never cover each other – there’s an obsession with playing offside.

“We noticed that right throughout the game, the space between the two centre-backs is too big.

“Initially, his starting position, Van Dijk, because he’s not intense enough to get over, he doesn’t want to cover his other centre-back.

“He stays in the same line, and that’s why he’s too far to get across.”
