Ex-Chelsea striker Diego Costa reignites feud with 'suspicious' Antonio Conte

Former Chelsea star Diego Costa has reignited his feud with 'suspicious' Antonio Conte - saying the Inter Milan boss wouldn't last one season at Real Madrid.

Conte and Costa won the Premier League title together at Chelsea, but the two had several run-ins and the manager texted his striker to tell him was not wanted at the club.

Spain striker Costa returned to his former club Atletico Madrid after the pair fell out, while Conte was eventually sacked by Chelsea and is now Inter Milan manager.

The Italian had led Inter to third place in Serie A by the time football was halted due to the coronavirus pandemic, while he previously won three titles in a row with Juventus.

But despite Conte's reputation as one of Europe's top managers, Costa says his former boss doesn't have the human touch required to succeed at the world's biggest clubs.

"[Conte and I] had problems off the pitch, but I think he is a really good manager," Costa told ESPN.

"I have no hard feelings towards Conte, but to be a top, top manager, he needs to change the human side of his management.

"He is very suspicious. At a team like, say, Real Madrid, he would never last a season."

Costa has previously said Conte could learn from his current boss, Atletico coach Diego Simeone.

In an interview with Spanish publication Marca in 2018, Costa said of the Italian: "His behaviour is the reason why I left Chelsea.

"It is the opposite to how it is at Atletico, where Diego (Simeone) will be direct and clear with his players - he will try to help you."

Speaking before Conte took charge at Inter, Costa said he felt let down by his former manager after helping fire his Chelsea side to the 2016/7 Premier League title.

"We made him a champion and then he messages me to tell me he didn't want me - look at where he is now," said Costa.
