Ex-Chelsea man who played once in seven years makes hugely ambitious England claim

His number of clubs is already into double figures and he was recently let go by Chelsea after playing just once in eight years.

It's a career that has yet to truly take off, but you have to admire Izzy Brown's positivity.

Brown recently joined Preston North End and has immediately set about with a hugely optimistic aim: to play for England. That is despite Brown having just signed for his TENTH club at the age of just 24.

A promising youngster at West Brom, Brown was snapped up by Chelsea in 2013 but proceeded to be one of many players who found themselves farmed out season after season.

After a nomadic career taking in temporary stays at Leeds, Sheffield Wednesday and in Holland, Brown now hopes to put down roots at Deepdale.

And he's also admitted that he still harbours a hugely ambitious aim to one day play for the Three Lions.

Brown did feature for England's youth teams from under-16s through to under-20s, but his comments do seem far-fetched given his current predicament.

"Some things happen in your career like injuries and setbacks but it's part of football," Brown told Sky Sports .

"You never know what can happen in the future. I still believe that one day in the future I can still probably play for England.

"I have got to keep believing in myself, work hard and hopefully this season sets me up to carry on pushing forward. I feel like Preston is an amazing club and I can't wait to play at Deepdale with all the fans."

Brown will be hoping for a much better campaign next year than the one just gone.

He was sent to Hillsborough on a season-long loan but failed to shine and made just four league starts as troubled Wednesday dropped into League One.
