Ex-Chargers RB Melvin Gordon signing with longtime rival

Running back Melvin Gordon has found a new home, and it just so happens to be an AFC West rival of the Chargers.

According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Gordon and the Broncos agreed to a two-year deal worth $16 million with $13.5 million guaranteed.

Gordon had a better offer from another team, but the thought of playing in the same division as Los Angeles was too tempting to pass up on, Rapoport reports.

While it’s not the contract he was hoping for, Denver had a top-10 run-blocking offensive line last season, led by Phillip Lindsay, per Pro Football Outsiders.

Plus, Gordon could be using this as a way to get revenge after the Chargers elected to extend Ekeler and making him the focal point of the backfield moving forward.

The former first-round selection turned down an offer by L.A. that would pay him $10 million annually, which led to a holdout last offseason and the first four games of the regular season.

Gordon leaves Los Angeles with 4,240 rushing yards, 36 rushing touchdowns, 1,873 receiving yards and 11 receiving touchdowns.
