After 16 seasons with the Chargers, quarterback Philip Rivers is taking his talents to Indianapolis after agreeing to a one-year deal with the Colts, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The deal is worth $25 million.
Indianapolis was always a popular destination for the 38-year old for a multitude of reasons, including the familiarity with the coaching staff.
Rivers will reunite with Colts offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni, who spent five seasons as an offensive assistant with the Chargers, who Rivers from 2004 to 2019. Colts coach Frank Reich was the offensive coordinator for two seasons with the Chargers.
Rivers will join a team that has a handful of playmakers, led by wide receiver T.Y. Hilton and one of the best offensive lines in the league.
Rivers had a remarkable career with the Chargers. He made the Pro Bowl eight times. He ranks sixth all-time in passing yards (59,271) and passing touchdowns (397). His starting streak is 224 games and counting.
