Ex-Chargers QB Cardale Jones finds new home in XFL

Nearly two months after being released from the Chargers, quarterback Cardale Jones has a found a new team, in a different league.

On Tuesday morning, Jones was among the eight quarterbacks assigned to an XFL team. The former Ohio State product will play for the D.C. Defenders after spending the past three seasons as an NFL backup.

Two of those three seasons in the NFL, Jones played with the Bolts, where he backed up QB Philip Rivers.

Heading into the 2019 season, Jones knew that he had to beat out rookie Easton Stick in order to keep his job. Despite having his best preseason yet and proving his worth, the team elected to go with Stick as the No. 3 quarterback.

Upon being released, many had speculated that Jones would be a great fit for the XFL, which begins on Feb. 8-9, 2020.

For those interested to see how Jones’ new beginning as a starting quarterback goes, all of the games will be televised on ABC, ESPN and FOX.
