Ex-Celtic youngster McGlinchey to sign with Clyde, confirms boss Danny Lennon

Danny Lennon has confirmed that Michael McGlinchey will join Clyde when the League One season restarts.

The 34 year-old has over 50 caps for New Zealand and had been at Queen's Park earlier this season.

Bully Wee boss Lennon revealed that the club had an agreement with McGlinchey and a loan player from St Mirren.

He told the Clyde website: "We've got a verbal agreement with midfielder Michael McGlinchey, who will join us ahead of a restart.

"Michael has a wealth of experience in the game, including over 50 caps for New Zealand, and that's something I feel that we'll really need in an extremely busy schedule.

"We also have an agreement with St. Mirren to bring in another player on loan and we'll confirm that ahead of a restart."

League One and League Two remains suspended but an update is expected in the next couple of days with clubs meeting with the SFA.

All twenty clubs in those divisions have agreed to pay for testing to complete season and Lennon admitted frustrations over the suspension but he understands the bigger picture.

Lennon said: "It's frustrating and disappointing to be out of action and also that we've had a split between the top and bottom clubs, which raises questions about inequality again.

"However, we do have to remember the circumstances that we are living in at the moment.

"People are suffering in various ways and we know that the health service has been under huge pressure.

"In terms of the outstanding fixtures, I don't know how, logistically, we're going to do that. Player welfare has to be taken into account with any restart, especially for part-time players.

"It normally takes a month to hit your peak. Of course, for the part-time teams at least, everyone is in the same position.

"All we can do at the moment is wait for an update from the governing bodies."
