Ex-Celtic WAG Helen Flanagan hunts for antique gems around Scotland

Ex-Celtic WAG still asks her mum to help her if she needs something sewn.

The Coronation Street actress, 29, who has two daughters with former Celtic star Scott Sinclair, appears in tomorrow’s Celebrity Antiques Road Trip looking for money-making gems around Scotland.

As part of the show – filmed last summer in Dunfermline, Perth, Alva, Stirling and Inverkeithing – she and expert Phil Serrell try to sew a kilt.

Despite being mum to Matilda, four, and Delilah, 18 months, the actress revealed during a visit to Askival of Strathearn to find out about kiltmaking that she isn’t a domestic goddess.

She said: “If I needed anything sowing for the girls, I’d get my mum to do it.”

Helen had family in mind during the trip as she looked to spend £400 and make a profit – finding a table football set complete with Subbuteo Celtic team.

But she wouldn’t buy a doll’s house Phil found – not even for her daughters. Helen said: “I’d never let them play with something like that. I’ve watched to many scary films. It could be haunted.”

Helen found it difficult to haggle for a bargain, claiming it was “weird” to offer less than the ticket price – despite that being the idea of the show.

She and Phil took on fellow actress Jorgie Porter and her expert helper James Braxton.

For Helen, it was a joy to travel around the country she’s fallen in love with.

“Scotland is such a great place for a road trip – it’s full of gorgeous backdrops and beautiful scenery,” she told the Record yesterday.

Scott’s move to Preston North End could open up a return to Corrie for Helen, who is on maternity leave from the soap. And she reveals her hopes for character Rosie Webster.

She said: “I’d really like to see Rosie become a mum.”

Helen’s Celebrity Antiques Road Trip, tomorrow, BBC2 at 7.30pm.
