Celtic have been put on red alert after former signing target Kasper Dolberg was left out of Ajax's pre-season plans after being told he can leave the Dutch giants.
But they face serious competition from FC Midtjylland, who have confirmed they are interested in the 56-times capped striker.
Dolberg has been linked with a move to Celtic for over a year now, and his value has dropped significantly after a disastrous stint in Amsterdam, where he managed to score just three goals in 22 appearances.

And this week he was left out of Ajax's pre-season training camp and also did not feature in their first friendly of the season against Panathinaikos at the weekend.
Reports in the Netherlands have indicated Ajax are desperate to sell the 28-year-old and reduce their playing squad, and his homeland club, FC Midtjylland, has made no secret of their interest in him.
Sports director Kristian Bach Bak said: "A guy like Dolberg will be someone we will always be in contact with and inquire about in some way."
