Ex-Celtic star Josip Juranovic hits 'dreamy' Union Berlin free-kick in Champions League chase

Josip Juranovic scored a 'dreamy' free-kick as Union Berlin played out a Bundesliga draw.

The former Celtic defender notched his fourth goal of the season in style as he curled an incredible free-kick into the top corner of the net in first-half stoppage time against Bochum. The Bundesliga high-flyers were reduced to ten men but were unable to find a winner as the visitors grabbed a share of the spoils from the spot.

Describing the goal, the match commentator roared: "What a hit. That is a dreamy free-kick from Josip Juranovic. Bochum stunned before half-time. The Croatian with a curler into the top corner."

The 1-1 draw leaves Union sitting third in the Bundesliga standings behind big duo Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. They still have faint title hopes with six games to play. They currently trail top spot by seven points.

The battle for Juranovic and Co will be reaching the top four and qualifying for the Champions League next season. They are one point ahead of Leipzig in fourth, who occupy the final qualifying spot, while Freiburg are fifth - just one point further back in an exciting climax to Germany's top flight.

Next up is a trip to Borussia Mönchengladbach before a home tie with Bayer Leverkusen which will see two former Celtic stars go head to head with Jeremie Frimpong on the books of the opposition.

Juranovic has featured 13 times for his new club since departing Ange Postecoglou's side following 18 months at the club. He's scored four goals and provided three assists in a solid start to life in German football.
