Ex-Celtic kid Darnell Fisher facing FA ban hammer over Callum Paterson manhandling

Darnell Fisher is staring down the barrel of an FA ban - after a clip emerged on social media showing the former Celtic defender getting a little too familiar with Callum Paterson.

The English Championship clash between Preston and Sheffield Wednesday didn't exactly stand out from the crowd on Saturday, though there was some SPFL interest as Alex Neil's side emerged 1-0 winners following Josh Windass' red card.

The former Rangers star was sent for an early bath in the first half after a high challenge on Joe Rafferty, as his side stayed rooted in the relegation zone.

He wasn't the pantomime villain for long, however, as shortly after full-time, some eyebrow-raising footage emerged on Twitter.

Scotland utility man Paterson, dodgy mustache and all, was minding his own business in the 62nd minute when Fisher - who played for Celtic between 2013-2016 - appears to touch his genitals.

The big number 5 reacts only with a bemused look towards the official, only for Fisher to go in for a second helping as his team look to defend a corner.

The incident was missed by the on-pitch referee, but has been brought to the FA's attention, and they have since released a statement acknowledging it.

“It is alleged that an incident during the 62nd minute of the fixture, which was not seen by the match officials at the time but caught on camera, constitutes a breach of FA Rule E3," a statement reads.

Per the FA's official guidelines, rule E3 relates to "violent conduct, serious foul play, threatening, abusive, indecent or insulting words or behaviour” and carries a three-match ban for players found guilty.

The club have acknowledged the alleged breach and will respond by 6pm on Tuesday.
