It’s not exactly how you want to be making an appearance in a documentary.
Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle had a cameo in the new ESPN Michael Jordan documentary The Last Dance, though as a recipient of a Jordan flush the former Boston Celtic just so happened to be on the wrong end of.
A play-by-play announcer can be heard in the game audio saying how Carlisle “just wants his mommy” — and truth be told you probably would have too, if it had been you on the end of that play.
Carlisle, who played three seasons in Boston as a third string shooting guard between 1984 and 1987, evidently elicited a similar response as the announcer from Mavericks point guard Jalen Brunson.
“C’mon coach!” came the tweet just after Carlisle’s cameo ran, and it’s an understandable response given just how bad the now-Mavs coach had been got.
But as the former Celtic himself might note, MJ got the poster — and sent home in the first round despite scoring 102 points in the first two games alone, while Carlisle helped hang a banner.
A fair trade-off, if you ask me.
