Ex-CBA employee admits $3.75m fraud

Former CBA employee George Vrettakos has pleaded guilty to defrauding the bank of $3.75 million. (AAP)

A former CBA employee has pleaded guilty to defrauding the bank of $3.75 million.

George Vrettakos admitted using the CommSec database to create fake clients and obtain $3.75 million in credit for himself and others between August 2008 and July 2009.

Now 41, Vrettakos pleaded guilty in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Tuesday to three counts of obtaining a financial advantage by deception.

He remains on bail and is due to appear in the County Court for a pre-sentence hearing on June 18.
