Ex-Cardiff City boss Russell Slade unveiled as manager of National League North side Hereford FC

Former Cardiff City manager Russell Slade has been unveiled as the new manager of Hereford FC.

The 58-year-old manager's time at Cardiff City tends to divide opinions among Bluebirds supporters. Despite very nearly guiding Cardiff to the play-offs after 18 months of austerity-ridden times in the Welsh capital, Slade left his role in May 2016, leaving the club entirely a month later.

In a statement confirming the news on Thursday night, the National League North club said: "Russell arrives at Edgar Street with a wealth of management and coaching experience under his belt, including spells at Cardiff City, Brighton & Hove Albion, Charlton Athletic, Leyton Orient, Yeovil Town and Grimsby Town.

"Having agreed a deal to take charge at Edgar Street, Russell has been introduced to the Bulls’ playing squad at tonight’s training session, as the players continue their preparations for Saturday’s home game against Boston United."

His last managerial stint was with Grimsby Town, who parted ways with the manager in 2018 after their winless stretch extended to 12 games in League Two.
