While allowing an appeal by the Uttar Pradesh government, Justice DK Singh passed the order.
In 2003, Lucknow district prison jailer SK Awasthi lodged an FIR with Alambagh police alleging that he was threatened for ordering a search of the people who came to meet Ansari in prison.
The former BSP MLA was also accused for pointing a a pistol at Awasthi while abusing him. In the case trial court acquitted Ansari, but the government filed an appeal.
Currently, Ansari is currently lodged in Banda jail was brought in Banda from a Punjab jail on 7 April 7 after an SC order.
Ansari is facing trial in over a dozen cases. He was lodged in Rupnagar prison since January 2019 in connection with an extortion case, is facing 52 cases in UP and elsewhere, and 15 of them are in the trial stage.
