Ex-Browns TE Orson Charles signs with the Denver Broncos

Former Cleveland Browns tight end Orson Charles has found a new home. Charles signed with the Denver Broncos on Wednesday, 10 days after being dumped by the Browns.

Charles joins a Broncos unit with myriad injuries at the tight end position. The veteran can also play fullback, which was his primary role with the Browns offense this training camp before his release.

The Browns released Charles in favor of signing Rico Gathers, a bigger and more receiving-oriented tight end. Gathers caught a pass in the second preseason game in Indianapolis and has shown more ability down the field than Charles did in his one-plus year in Cleveland.
