Former Browns linebacker Xavier Woodson-Luster was not unemployed for long. Less than a week after the Browns severed ties with the first-year backer after the rookie minicamp produced better prospects, Woodson-Luster signed with the Houston Texans on Sunday.
He was signed by Houston after a successful tryout at the Texans’ own rookie minicamp. Woodson-Luster is still eligible for rookie minicamp by NFL standards even though he did play some for the Browns last season. He entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent from Arkansas State in 2017, spending time on the Oakland Raiders and Buffalo Bills before his brief stint in Cleveland.
Woodson-Luster appeared in four games for Cleveland after signing with the team midway through the year. He never played in the base defense but did see action on almost 100 special teams reps.
