Ex-Broncos WR Emmanuel Sanders plans to sign with Saints

Former Broncos wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders intends to sign a two-year deal with the New Orleans Saints, according to ESPN’s Josina Anderson.

Sanders (5-11, 180 pounds) entered the league with the Steelers as a third-round pick out of SMU in 2010. After spending the first four years of his career in Pittsburgh, Sanders signed with Denver in 2014.

Sanders went on to have three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons with the Broncos and helped the team win Super Bowl 50 in 2015. Before the trade deadline last fall, Denver agreed to trade Sanders and a fifth-round draft pick to the 49ers in exchange for third- and fourth-round picks.

The Broncos used that fourth-round pick from San Francisco to trade for Jaguars cornerback A.J. Bouye. So as a result of trading Sanders, Denver ended up with a new No. 1 cornerback and an extra third-round pick.

After helping the 49ers reach the Super Bowl last season, Sanders became a free agent when his contract expired on March 18.

Sanders, 33, has caught 601 passes for 7,893 yards and 42 touchdowns in his career. He made two Pro Bowls during his time with the Broncos.
