Ex-Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas visits Patriots

Former Denver Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas visited the New England Patriots on Wednesday, according to multiple media outlets.

Thomas (6 feet 3, 229 pounds) was selected by the Broncos in the first round of the 2010 NFL draft. He spent the first nine-and-a-half years of his career in Denver before the team traded him to the Houston Texans last season.

Before being traded, Thomas won a Super Bowl and earned five Pro Bowl nods. He suffered an Achilles injury last December but could be healthy in time for the 2019 season opener.

Thomas ranks second in team history in receiving yards (9,055) and touchdowns (60), trailing only Rod Smith (11,389 and 68).

New England has witnessed firsthand the kind of damage Thomas can do to a defense. In seven career games against the Patriots, Thomas hauled in 40 receptions for 635 yards and two touchdowns.

Thomas owns 688 career receptions for 9,330 yards and 62 touchdowns. Once healthy, the 31-year-old could certainly be productive in a Tom Brady-led offense.
