Ex-Broncos OLB Shane Ray visits Seahawks

Former Denver Broncos outside linebacker Shane Ray will visit the Seattle Seahawks today, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.

This is Ray’s third known visit this offseason. He previously met with the Indianapolis Colts and Oakland Raiders.

The Broncos opted to let Ray and fellow outside linebacker Shaq Barrett walk during free agency. Barrett received a one-year, $5 million contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on March 15.

To replace Barrett and Ray, Denver will likely lean on Jeff Holland and undrafted rookie Malik Reed to serve as rotational pass rushers behind starters Von Miller and Bradley Chubb this season.

Ray, 25, was selected by the Broncos in the first round of the 2015 NFL draft out of Missouri. He has failed to live up to his draft status since then.

Ray has been plagued by wrist injuries over the last four years, dressing for 49 of a possible 64 games. In those contests, Ray totaled 94 tackles and 14 sacks. He had a career year in 2016, recording eight sacks as a fill-in starter for an injured DeMarcus Ware.
