Ex-Broncos OL Billy Turner to sign with Packers

The Green Bay Packers plan to sign former Denver Broncos offensive lineman Billy Turner to a four-year deal when the new league year begins Wednesday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Turner is a versatile player (he can play both tackle and guard) but his price tag likely proved to be too rich for Denver after the team gave offensive tackle Ja’Wuan James a four-year, $51 million contract.

Green Bay will pay Turner up to $29.5 million over four years, with $11 million paid in 2019, according to Schefter. The Broncos “tried hard” to re-sign Turner but weren’t able to reach an agreement with him, according to KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis.

Turner dressed for all 16 games last season and earned 11 starts. He was penalized twice and allowed 3.5 sacks in those contests, according to STATS. He will likely be a full-time starter with the Packers.

Denver has agreed to terms with two players — James and defensive back Kareem Jackson so far. More moves should be on the way.
