Ex-Broncos LB Brandon Marshall signs with Raiders

Former Denver Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall has re-signed with the Oakland Raiders (via Raiders Wire). Marshall, 29, competed for a roster spot with the Raiders this summer and was surprisingly cut on Aug. 30.

Oakland is now bringing him back for the second half of the season.

Marshall (6-1, 250 pounds) entered the league as a fifth-round pick out of Nevada with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2012. After bouncing back and forth between the Jaguars’ practice squad and active roster during his rookie season, Marshall landed in Denver in 2013.

Marshall started out on the Broncos’ practice squad before emerging as a starter in 2014. He went on to serve as a regular starter when healthy for the next five seasons, winning Super Bowl 50 following the 2015 season.

Denver drafted Josey Jewell in the fourth round of last year’s draft, a sign that the team was preparing to move on from Marshall. After Marshall battled injuries last season and started in just seven games, the Broncos opted not to exercise his contract option for the 2019 season.

Marshall has totaled 419 tackles, 6.5 sacks, two interceptions and four forced fumbles in his career.
