Ex-Broncos CB Chris Harris agrees to sign with Chargers

Former Denver Broncos cornerback Chris Harris intends to sign with the Los Angeles Chargers, according to ESPN’s Josina Anderson.

Harris (5-10, 199 pounds) signed with Denver as a college free agent out of Kansas in 2011. He quickly emerged as a key rotational cornerback and special teams player and was named to the PFWA’s All-Rookie Team.

Harris became a full-time starter in 2012 and totaled 61 tackles, 2.5 sacks and three interceptions. Two years later, he earned his first Pro Bowl nod.

Harris and outside linebacker Von Miller were sidelined by injuries when the Broncos reached Super Bowl XLVIII following the 2013 season. Denver returned to the Super Bowl two years later and Harris and Miller helped the Broncos defeat the Panthers 24-10 in Super Bowl 50.

A four-time Pro Bowler, Harris has totaled 518 tackles and 4.5 sacks over the last nine seasons. His 20 interceptions are tied for 10th on Denver’s all-time interceptions list. Harris will likely be added to the Broncos’ Ring of Fame after he retires down the road. He will turn 31 in June.

Denver, meanwhile, has completed a trade for former Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback A.J. Bouye. The Broncos are also bringing back cornerback De’Vante Bausby on a one-year tender and Bryce Callahan (foot) is expected to be healthy in time for the 2020 season.
