Ex-Bristol City and Nottingham Forest target explains decision to stay at Arsenal after Leeds United loan

Eddie Nketiah says he is fulfilling his dream by playing for Arsenal.

The striker spent the first half of the season on loan at Leeds United but struggled for regular starts, and was recalled by the Gunners in January.

Bristol City had a long-held interest in taking Nketiah on loan after he turned them down for Elland Road in the summer and it appeared the Robins were frontrunners for his signature- although they faced competition from Nottingham Forest and Sheffield Wednesday.

Yet the Robins' chances were dealt a fatal blow when the Gunners reversed their decision to send him out on loan again and instead opted to keep him at the club.

Nketiah scored in their FA Cup win over Bournemouth on Monday evening and said he was happy to stay at the club.

He told BT Sport: "Yes it's nice to be back. I had a great time at Leeds and I learned a lot. The boss (Mikel Arteta) was really happy with what he saw from me. Obviously you want to play for Arsenal and it's a dream.

"I am grateful for this opportunity and it was nice to get back out there."
