Ex-Boston Celtic Guerschon Yabusele finds new home with France’s ASVEL

It seems former Boston Celtics big man Guerschon Yabusele has found something of a home for himself with a new team despite all the chaos in the world right now, reports Eurohoops.net.

The former 16th overall pick just didn’t work out with the Celtics.

The Frenchman’s selection just outside the lottery in the 2016 NBA Draft was a product of a roster crunch for Boston, and Yabu’s willingness to play overseas until a space opened for him didn’t end the way either had hoped.

But, the Dreux native is poised to sign his second deal with ASVEL, a club in the French Pro-A league, the highest level of competition in France, run by NBA veterans Tony Parker and Nic Batum.

He’d been with the Chinese Basketball Association’s Nanjing Monkey Kings previously, joining ASVEL near the end of the season. He averaged 8 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals over two games competing in the Euroleague before that season ended.

He would play another two games for the club in the French Jeep Elite League in March, dropping 22 points in the first of the two contests, and six in the second.

The “Dancing Bear” — as he came to be known with the Celtics — quickly won over Boston fans on arrival with the franchise — hopefully the fans of his new team embrace the gregorious big man on the other side of the pond as well.
