Ex-Bolton Wanderers and Celtic boss in the frame for Ispwich Town job after Paul Cook's sacking

Former Bolton Wanderers boss Neil Lennon has been linked with the managerial vacancy at Ipswich Town.

Lennon has been out of work since leaving Scottish giants Celtic for the second time earlier this year.

The 50-year-old spent a year-and-a-half in the dugout with the Trotters between October 2014 and March 2016 before departing Wanderers by mutual consent.

He has since been in management with Hibernian and most recent with Celtic, taking charge of the Glasgow side in February 2019 for a second spell in charge.

But he departed Parkhead for a second time earlier this year with Celtic then 18 points behind Rangers in the Scottish top flight.

The Tractor Boys are on the lookout for a new boss following Paul Cook being relieved of his duties by the East Anglia side earlier this month.

John McGreal is in interim charge of Ipswich for the time being.

But according to the Daily Record, former Wanderers boss Lennon is in the mix for the Tractor Boys dugout.

It is understood he has spoken about the job to his old pal Paul Lambert, who was at Ipswich until March, and is excited about the chance to work with the new American owners.

The 50-year-old has been out of management since leaving Parkhead in February, but has been working as a pundit for Sky Sports in recent months.
