Ex-Bolton defender and Chelsea star's brother Yoan Zouma moves to Wanderers' League Two rivals

Ex-Bolton Wanderers defender Yoan Zouma has joined the Trotters' League Two rivals and Ian Evatt's former side Barrow.

The 22-year-old was among the players released by Wanderers over the summer and made a total of 23 appearances for the club.

Zouma, the brother of Chelsea defender Kurt, had been training with Wanderers recently and there had been the possibility of him earning a deal with the League Two side.

But Wanderers head coach Evatt revealed last week that Zouma had now left Bolton and explained the reasons for parting company for good.

The Bolton boss felt that Zouma was not performing in training better than the other defenders currently on the books at Wanderers.

The defender has now joined Evatt's former side Barrow whom the Trotters boss led to promotion last season from the National League.

Evatt departed Holker Street over the summer to make the move to the University of Bolton Stadium

New Bluebirds boss David Dunn is pleased with the new acquisition, who has has kept an eye on during his time at Bolton.

Dunn told the club website: “Yoan played in League One last year and he’s a player I have been aware of because I’ve watched him over the last couple of seasons.

“He has some really good attributes; he’s quick, he defends the space in behind really well and I feel like we have got another player in who is going to be really good for the future.”

Zouma could take on his old side later this month when Wanderers travel to Holker Street for a League Two clash on Tuesday, October 20.
