Ex-Arsenal target Joachim Anderson has fans in stitches over what he has done against Liverpool

Arsenal have been surprisingly busy during the summer transfer window as the Gunners aim to improve their squad ahead of the upcoming campaign.

But there is one area of the field which is worrying fans and that is defence, especially with talk of Laurent Koscielny reportedly on the verge of leaving and Shkodran Mustafi available to offers.

One player who had been linked with the Gunners was Joachim Andersen who instead joined Lyon this summer.

The 23-year-old endured a tough night against Liverpool in a 3-1 defeat to the Reds, with the centre-back finding the back of his own net during the loss.

After going 1-0 down to Lyon through a Memphis Depay penalty, things started to look up for Liverpool when Roberto Firmino equalised around ten minutes later.

Luckily for Liverpool, another goal would come very shortly to put Jurgen Klopp’s men in the lead, but it didn’t happen the way you’d expect.

Ki-Jana Hoever’s swinging cross aimed for Firmino in the box but it was turned in immaculately by none other than Andersen, who arguably provided the goal of Liverpool’s pre-season.

After Andersen’s neat, cushioned side foot volley gave Liverpool a very unexpected lead, Reds flocked to Twitter to voice their amusement after the mistake by the former Arsenal 'target'.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are set to sell Krystian Bielik after the Polish international's successful season on-loan at Charlton Athletic last year.

The 21-year-old helped the Addicks to win promotion to the Championship, and while he may have been another option to fill in defensive gaps for the Gunners, the club are instead ready to cash in on a deal that could be worth in the region of £10million.
