Ex-Arsenal star demands board sack Unai Emery and names four suitable replacements

Arsenal should sack Unai Emery because the club is regressing.

That's the opinion of former Arsenal star Kevin Campbell, who has called on the Gunners board to part company with the Spaniard - and has listed four managers better-suited to the job.

Arsenal have looked limp in all competitions this season and Emery is under increasing pressure to turn things around.

Last time out the Gunners threw away a two-goal lead at home to Crystal Palace after struggling to beat Vitoria in the Europa League.

Before that, Arsenal were beaten 1-0 by newly-promoted Sheffield United.

Emery has been given assurances from the board that his position is currently safe, but Campbell thinks it's time Arsenal say their goodbyes.

He said on AFTV's Kevin Campbell Show: "What has Unai Emery done to make us better?

"I used to back managers, but I don't back managers anymore because it's wrong. When you back managers, you get stuck with that manager. And I don't want to be stuck to any managers.

"I want Arsenal to progress and to be able to go and challenge. I don't see it! So, I am calling out Unai Emery, right now because I am not seeing that.

"I think we're regressing – in my opinion, Unai Emery, thanks for trying, but we're going to go a different direction.

"The board should be getting him out and getting in someone like an [Massimiliano] Allegri or someone of that ilk. Luis Enrique, I like Luis Enrique – people even mentioned [Mikel] Arteta. What about Patrick Vieira?"
