Ex-Antrim star Shane McNaughton giving away entire collection of hurls - bar one

Former Antrim star Shane McNaughton is giving away his entire collection of hurls - bar one - after deciding to retire from hurling.

The Cushendall clubman enjoyed a successful inter-county career and was also at midfield when the club reached the All-Ireland final in 2016.

Now a budding actor, he's mainly based in New York City and has decided to hang up the boots and give away all of his 83 hurls from outside his house for anybody to take,' reports the Irish Mirror.

But the 32-year-old is hanging on to one - a hurl signed by Henry Shefflin - which he claims he sleeps with.

He tweeted: "I decided that the time was right. I am retiring from Hurling.

"83 hurling sticks out the front of the house for anyone that wants or needs them. There was 84 but Henry Shefflin signed one and I sleep with that.

"Some would be better suited to cappin cows all the same."
