Ex-Ajax star makes transfer claim which should alert Emery and Sanllehi ahead of summer window

Donny van de Beek has certainly caught the eye in Ajax's run to the Champions League semi-final.

He was impressive over two legs against holders Real Madrid, scored a crucial goal to spark a comeback against Juventus and netted the only goal of the game in the semi-final first leg against Tottenham Hotspur.

Just one of many talented players within the Dutch side's ranks, it's no surprise that he has been linked with an exit during the summer transfer window.

'Supercomputer' predicts the top four race between Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United

With each passing game the Dutchman's value is increasing which is likely to draw interest from some of Europe's biggest clubs, but former Ajax star Hedwiges Maduro believes the midfielder would be a perfect signing for Unai Emery or Mauricio Pochettino.

"Van de Beek is of the same level as [former Everton midfielder Davy] Klaassen, Maduro told Dutch broadcaster NOS. "He is also a good player, but his next choice will be important.

"At Manchester City or Barcelona, he could be playing the same style of football as Ajax, but I think it would a level too high for him.

"The category of clubs below that should be a possibility.

"Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Valencia or Sevilla – those kinds of clubs.

"Arsenal would suit him in style."

The Gunners are in the market for a replacement for Aaron Ramsey - who is to join Juve on a free transfer from July 1 - and given that van de Beek has 15 goals to his name this season, fans have called for his signing .

Emery was speaking about plans to replace the Welshman and hinted at seeking an internal solution.

"Yes, but there are also players coming through from the academy who are producing good performances and who could progress," Emery told  Sky Sports .

Arsenal offer Aaron Ramsey injury update amid fears he will miss remainder of season

"We could replace him with a player from outside, or with a player who is already here who can grow like he did himself.

"We have to keep taking steps forward and the club is working towards that.

"There could be a lot of movement in terms of signings and departures or there could be a little, but first of all I believe there is a good base for the team already here."
