Jan. 21--Former San Francisco 49ers defensive end Ray McDonald has put his home in San Jose on the market at about $2.95 million.
The 49ers released the 30-year-old player in December after the San Jose Police Department announced that he was being investigated in a possible sexual assault. McDonald was previously arrested on suspicion of domestic violence in August, but was not charged because of a lack of evidence.
The Mediterranean-style home, built in 1999, features a pair of covered patios, an outdoor fireplace, and custom pool with a spa, a grotto and a water slide on more than an acre.
Entered through a grand foyer with a sweeping staircase, the two-story floor plan includes a formal living room with a fireplace, a dining room, a center-island kitchen, four bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms in 4,827 square feet.
Among amenities is a theater room with stadium seating and an office. A billiards/game room is outfitted with a wet bar and various 49ers memorabilia.
A third-round draft choice out of Florida in 2007, McDonald appeared in 115 games across eight seasons with San Francisco with 19.5 sacks and 154 tackles.
McDonald purchased the home in 2012 for $1.82 million, according to public records. Robert R. Fernandez of Atlas Realty is the listing agent.
