Fake perfumes being sold on Market Street were described as smelling of 'urinated toilet water'.
City centre police revealed the seizure of the knock off fragrances in a tongue in cheek social media post.
"Ewww de Toilette!" officers on the GMP city centre Facebook account said.
"Perfumes being sold on Market Street as genuine, turn out to be fake.
"Making things worse, they quite literally smell of urinated toilet water.
"Don’t pee your cash down the loo, buy the real thing! #ChanelNo1"
One Facebook user said in reply: "I always thought those dark, mysterious figures ambling up and down Market Street were so respectable and honest too."
Another said: "You get what you pay for. If it looks, sounds too good to be true it usually is."
While another added: "This is the funniest post I've seen on this page. Thanks for the giggle gmp."
