Ewan McVicar says Pavilion and STREETrave festivals have given Ayr 'national respect'

Ewan McVicar believes his festival has put Ayr back on the dance music map.

The DJ and producer has broken his silence four days on from headlining his very own Pavilion Festival on the Low Green.

Some 7,500 revellers descended on the town to party for more than 10 hours on Saturday night as the Kincaidston lad took centre stage for an emotional homecoming.

Pavilion Festival was followed on by STREETrave on Sunday which brought a collection icons from the genre, recreating the legendary Ayr Pavilion nights of the early 90s in front of 5,000 Old School ravers.

Ewan has reflected on the huge success of both events as he shared a heartfelt statement on social media, in which he thanked South Ayrshire Council, police and festival organisers.

And the 'Tell Me Something Good' star has told how the event "surpassed his wildest dreams," as he admitted he was "struggling to comprehend" the magnitude of what happened.

Ewan paid a special mention to fans for "coming together to have a good time," adding that the festival gave revellers something worth "substance and national respect," to Ayr.

Ewan praised festival goers for looking after each other and not being "dafty's on the day" as he declared "we smashed it."

He added: "Thanks to everyone that worked on this festival, the bar staff, the council, the police, the DJs, the sound techs, all of you played a part and made my dream come true."

A special mention was given to Ricky Magowan and Julie McEwan of STREETrave.

His statement comes a day after it was confirmed that Ayr is set for five more years of dance music festivals on the Low Green, with STREETrave and Pavilion Festival set to return.

Ewan added: "A guess it’s time to level up the low green again for the next 5 years."
