The news on Sunday caught everyone off guard as Ewan McGregor become a dad for a fifth time.
His girlfriend Mary Elizabeth Winstead, 36, gave birth to the couple's first child together.
The wonderful news was announced by the actor's daughter Clara who confirmed her dad was a father again in a cute post on Instagram - but things between them weren't always like they are now.
Ewan is also dad to three other children, Jamyan, 20, Esther, 19, and Anouk, 10.
This is the Star Wars actor's first child with Birds of Prey co-star Mary.
They met on the set while working on another film together and quickly established a connection - but things were about to get very complicated.
They began dating in 2017 after falling for each other on the set of Fargo.
But things got off to a rocky start with Ewan's daughters, who they blamed for their parents' marriage collapse.
Ewan split with wife of more than 20 years Eve Mavrakis and their children didn't take it well.
In July 2018, model Clara slammed her after responding to a fan post about the actress - and her words made headlines.
"Most beautiful and talented woman on earth???" the then 22-year-old wrote in response to a photo of Winstead.
"Oh man y'all are delusional," Clara continued – alongside three laugh-cry emojis. "The girl is a piece of trash."
Reports suggested at the time that the couple's marriage was doomed after he was spotted kissing Mary while in London
Esther also spoke out, saying the images left her in floods of tears.
It is claimed there was no way back and Eve was reportedly furious at his fling with his on-screen lover — who she welcomed into the family home months earlier, it was claimed.
But Mary and Ewan rode the storm.
Her career by this point was starting to explode and a number of huge roles saw her seen as one of America's most in-demand film stars.
She got her break in 2005 and when on to get big parts in Sky High, Final Destination and Black Christmas, she also starred in Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof.
Roles in The Thing, Die Hard 4, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and 10 Cloverfield Lane soon followed, as the awards started to come.
Not bad considering she initially strived to be a ballerina, and even participated in a number of small ballet productions.
She was ranked tenth in Maxim magazine’s list of Hottest Women of Horror Movies.
Of course it isn't the first time Ewan has surprised fans with secret baby news, previously revealing in 2011 that he adopted a girl.
One thing is for sure, Clara is now on board.
"Welcome to the world little brother congratulations to my Dad & Mary - this is the greatest gift," she wrote alongside two adorable photos with her sibling, announcing the new arrival.
