Evil rapist tries to worm his way out of paedophile hunter sting

This video shows the moment a rapist who tried to meet a 14-year-old girl for sex was caught by paedophile hunters.

Jon Womack was locked up for six years in August 2016, after raping a vulnerable woman in her 30s.

Yet after serving half of the sentence behind bars, the evil pervert was set free in August last year and moved to Liverpool.

Within six months the 40-year-old, of Greenfield Way, Allerton, was online looking for a new victim - this time a child.

But the person he thought was another easy target - a schoolgirl - was in fact an adult from the organisation Justice4Kids.

And when he arranged to meet the girl at Liverpool Lime Street Station, members of the group were there waiting for him.

The clip, provided to the ECHO by Justice4Kids and their allies North West Hebephile Hunters (NWHH), exposes Womack's lies.

It shows him desperately try to worm his way out of his predicament - claiming he thought he was meeting an 18-year-old.

On the recording, one of the paedophile hunters can be heard telling Womack they will be discreet and he will not be harmed.

The member of the group asks him to confirm his name, at which point the pervert tries to claim his surname is in fact Glover.

He then pretends he thought the decoy girl, who used the name Kate on dating website Oasis, was "18 as far as I know".

However, the paedophile hunters show him his profile picture, reveal they know his real name, and the fact he is a convicted rapist.

That information leaves Womack shell shocked and he starts nodding along, but still denying the truth.

It is only when shown a transcript of his vile conversations, during which he sent the girl a picture of his penis, he finally comes clean.

Womack can be heard to confess "she told me she was 14", to which the paedophile hunter replies: "Repeatedly told you she was 14."

Asked why he did it, the rapist appears lost for words, then eventually volunteers "okay, I admit, I messed up" and lights a cigarette.

The man questioning him says: "I'd consider it a lot more than just a simple 'okay, I've messed up', because the things you have been saying to this girl are absolutely disgusting mate."

The group contacted the police, who attended the scene and arrested Womack on February 8, before he made admissions in interview.

Liverpool Crown Court heard he admitted attempted sexual communication with a child and attempting to meet a child following grooming.

Derek Jones, prosecuting, said during the chats, which began on February 2, the creep described how the girl could perform sex acts on him.

He said Womack asked the girl whether she wanted sex, then talked about using a condom to stop her getting pregnant, and what he would do.

Mr Jones said: "His intention was to engage in penetrative sexual activity when he met her."

The dad-of-three, who told police he had been "stupid", has been recalled on licence, which is not due to expire until August 4, 2022.

Defence lawyers said Womack, who is originally from Preston and has had his children taken off him, was physically abused as a child.

They said he denied carrying out the rape, in Reading in 2015, and as a result had never been on a sex offenders treatment course.

But the court heard Womack, who has special educational needs and depression, was remorseful about this new crime and wanted help.

Judge Garrett Byrne said: "According to the pre-sentence report, you have a self-confessed sexual interest in prepubescent girls and you struggle to contain your sexual urges."

He said Womack was deemed a high risk, particularly to vulnerable females, and he believed he was a "dangerous" offender.

Jailing him for four years, with an extended two years on licence, he said: "Only such a sentence will afford the significant degree of protection to vulnerable females in the future."

This means Womack must spend at least two thirds of the prison term - two years and eight months - behind bars, before he is eligible for parole.

He will then only be released before the end of the four years if a parole board considers he is no longer a risk.

The judge told him to sign on the Sex Offenders Register and comply with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for life.
