Justice has been served after a Florida pharmacist described as an 'evil predator' was sentenced to life in prison for raping minors and human trafficking.
Pharmacist Abused Over 50 Children, Some as Young as 10
The US Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida (USAO-SDFL) announced on Friday 27 June 2025 that 42-year-old Stefan Andres Correa received a life sentence in federal prison. The Miami-based pharmacist pleaded guilty to engaging in sex acts with minors and trafficking offences.
Investigators revealed that Correa victimised over 50 children aged between 10 and 17. Authorities also found nine mobile phones in his possession, one of which contained messages with a Colombian sex trafficker. In the exchanges, Correa agreed to pay for commercial sex with children aged 10 to 12.
'If she behaves and takes good care of me, you can keep bringing her and you'll each get [$75],' Correa wrote in one of the text messages, as reported by the New York Post.
Arrested While Attempting to Flee
In April, Correa attempted to board a flight from Miami International Airport to Bogotá, Colombia. He was arrested by federal agents at the jet bridge.
Before sentencing, Correa sent a letter to the judge claiming he was taking responsibility for his crimes and admitted to having an 'unhealthy yet treatable sex drive.'
On Friday, US District Court Judge Beth Bloom sentenced him to life imprisonment. Correa will serve his sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution in Marianna, Florida.
A Stern Warning to Child Predators
US Attorney Hayden P O'Byrne for the Southern District of Florida stated that the government remains committed to protecting children everywhere.
'This prosecution and this sentence should serve as a warning to any predator who is trying to travel through our district to prey on children. We will find you and prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law,' he said.
O'Byrne added: 'A life sentence for this conduct is entirely appropriate. Predators such as Correa are a scourge upon humanity and must be dealt with accordingly.'
Meanwhile, Acting Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Miami, Jose R Figueroa, expressed hope that the sentence would bring justice and relief to the survivors. He emphasised that Correa's case underlines the importance of international cooperation in fighting child sex trafficking.
The prosecution was part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative aimed at combating child sexual abuse and exploitation. Authorities encourage anyone who suspects child abuse or trafficking to contact local law enforcement immediately.
