Evian releases a futuristic Virgil Abloh-approved water cooler for your home

Evian has announced its own high end take on the run-of-the-mill water cooler. Called the (re)new, the water dispenser comes with its own app, a bottle which shrinks as you use it and handy button for calling a refill in.

The (re)new water bottle is described as 'thin and light as a bubble' and holds up to 5 litres of water. The bottle is made from recyclable material which shrinks as it’s depleted, using 66% less plastic than a standard 1.5 litre Evian plastic bottle.

The machine also comes with an app, which helps owners track how much water they’re drinking as well as when it’s time to refill the bottle. There's also a little button on the machine which you can press to alert Evian that it’s time to deliver a new bottle to your house.

If you’re keen to get your hands on one, you’ll have to be part of a very exclusive club. Only 200 people in Paris and London will be able to get their hands on one for now.

Louis Vuitton’s menswear artistic director Virgil Abloh - who is the brand’s creative advisor for sustainable innovation design - is one recipient of a (re)new. “I’ve always been inspired by great design and how it can shape our lives” he said.

Evian has pledged that it will “make all of its plastic bottles from 100% recycled plastic by 2025” and additionally announced it is aiming to keep plastic “within the economy and out of nature”.
