The NHS covid vaccination programme is asking thousands more people to book in their booster vaccinations in the coming days and have a ‘jabby new year’.
Up to 650,000 text messages and 50,000 letters are being sent to people who have not yet had their booster vaccine, encouraging them to book one now.
As of December 29, there were one million available appointments up to January 1st for people to book a vaccination.

The call for people to come forward comes after NHS staff delivered 244,078 vaccinations on Monday.
This included providing 209,626 boosters.
On Tuesday, a record 117,093 positive Covid-19 cases were reported in England, with the city region seeing a rise of 10,000 positive cases.
Dr Emily Lawson, head of the NHS Covid Vaccination Programme, said: “Experts are clear that two doses does not give the protection we need from the new strain so everyone eligible should get boosted now and enjoy a jabby New Year.
“There are more than one million appointments available before January 1 and getting vaccinated is the best way to protect yourself, your family and your friends as we head into 2022, whether it be a first, second or booster dose.”
People in the city region can book their vaccination by clicking here and choosing a day, time and location that is available.
There will also be a number of drop in vaccination centres operating in the run up to the new year and the days that follow.
