What’s the plot for The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3?
If you’re new here (welcome, where have you been?), The Summer I Turned Pretty is based on Jenny Han’s trilogy about Belly Conklin’s annual love triangle chaos in the fictional Cousins Beach. Season three jumps forward two years, following the plot of the final book, We’ll Always Have Summer.
Belly and Jeremiah are now in college and still together, but the honeymoon phase is officially over. According to Entertainment Weekly (EW), Gavin Casalegno (Jeremiah) says we’ll see them “out of the honeymoon phase” and into “long-term thinking” territory. Lola Tung (Belly) promises we’ll get to see what makes their relationship unique — so expect less pining and more real talk.

But don’t worry, Conrad isn’t out of the picture. He’s been MIA, but now he’s back, and — shocker — he’s still got feelings. Jenny Han told EW that Conrad’s return means everyone’s forced to reckon with how much they’ve changed. And yes, the infamous letter mix-up from the books is coming, so book fans, you can start screaming now.
How faithful is it to the books?
Pretty faithful, but with a few curveballs. Han has made it clear she’s not here to copy-paste the novels. “There are going to be surprises,” she told EW.
So, while you’ll get your big moments (yes, the love triangle is alive and well), expect a few new twists to keep you guessing.
Who’s back for The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3?
All your faves are returning: Lola Tung (Belly), Christopher Briney (Conrad), Gavin Casalegno (Jeremiah), Sean Kaufman (Steven), Rain Spencer (Taylor), and more.
There’s also a new face: Zoé De Grand Maison, who pops up in the trailer as someone asking Conrad about his love life.
While all those characters appeared in the first half of the season, the show’s universe will expand in the final three episodes, with a new group of youngsters introduced as Belly lands in Paris.

Those recurring roles will include Corinna Brown, who is known from fellow YA hit show Heartstopper as well as Fernando Cattori, Isaline Prevost Radeff and Jahz Armando.
While we won’t know the extend of their roles until the final three instalment land, a few of those faces appear in the final trailer for season three released ahead of the show’s remaining episodes.
Is there a trailer for The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3?
The official trailer dropped on June 12, 2025, and it’s a rollercoaster: flashbacks, declarations of love, and — wait for it — Belly and Jeremiah are engaged. But before you start planning their wedding, the trailer teases plenty of drama, including a car accident scare for Steven and perhaps Conrad still not being over Belly.
The teaser (released back in April) shows Belly and Jeremiah living their best college life, until Conrad shows up — candy cane in mouth, naturally — to stir the pot. The official synopsis? Belly’s looking forward to another summer with Jeremiah, but Conrad’s return throws everything into chaos, and she’s forced to choose once and for all.
Consider us spoiled, because on top of that official trailer, Amazon also released a final teaser clip filled to the brim with everything that’s set to take place in the last three episodes of The Summer I Turned Pretty.
The new trailer sees Belly officially cross the pond to Paris, first encountering an understandable dose of loneliness before making herself at home with a new bunch of pals, parties, and public transport. No one masters the art of looking forlornly out of a bus window like Belly!
It’s The Summer I Turned Pretty, so of course the trailer is soundtracked by a pop classic — Ellie Goulding‘s “Anything Can Happen”. Get whisked up in all the Parisian wonder ahead of the show’s final three episodes with the trailer below.
When does The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 come out?
Mark your calendars and cancel your winter plans: The Summer I Turned Pretty season three hits Prime Video on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, with a two-episode premiere landing at 5pm AEST to kick things off.
The 11-episode season will then roll out a new episode every week, leading up to the series finale on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.
The delay between seasons? You can thank the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes for that one. While we got seasons one and two in back-to-back summers, season three took a breather, but at least all those extra months have given the team time to make it extra juicy.
Does Steven die in The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3?
One conspiracy that is quickly picking up steam within the Jenny Han fanbase is that our fan fave Steven Conklin might be headed for a tragic exit in The Summer I Turned Pretty season three.

The theory went into overdrive after the official Prime Video trailer dropped flashing a tense scene of Steven behind the wheel at night, followed by Taylor looking devastated in what looks a lot like a hospital room.
This blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment has sent the internet into a spiral, with fans convinced the show is about to throw a major curveball and kill off Belly’s older brother.
But here’s what’s actually confirmed: while the car accident scene is definitely in the trailer, there’s been no official word from Amazon, Jenny Han, or the cast about Steven’s fate.

In the original book trilogy, Steven is alive and well through to the end — offering Belly big-brother advice and even helping out with her wedding plans — so, for book purists, his death would be a major deviation. That said, who knows what Jenny has in store for us!
Which Taylor Swift songs are in The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3?
If you thought this show couldn’t get any more Swiftie, think again. The season 3 trailer is set to “Daylight” from Lover, which then transitions into “Red (Taylor’s Version)” when Conrad appears. Past seasons have featured “This Love (Taylor’s Version)” and “Back to December (Taylor’s Version),” so it’s safe to say Taylor’s discography is basically the show’s unofficial soundtrack.
While there’s no official word yet on what other Taylor tracks will pop up, given the show’s history, expect at least one more Swiftie anthem to soundtrack your next emotional breakdown.
Now that you’re across all there is to know about season three, go ahead and speed-read the book before it drops! Or, who are we kidding, grab some popcorn and watch it all unfold on Prime Video.
The Summer Turned Pretty Season 3 kicks off July 16 on Prime Video.
