Okay witches, the time as come!!!!! Keep your eyes on the skies tomorrow tonight as it’s about to turn a tinge of red thanks to the ultra rare Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse.
It’s a ‘yuge event in both astronomy and astrology, so whether you’re whipping out your telescope or tapping into the magic (or both!), here’s everything to know about the marvellous mystical occasion.
Read on for all the cosmic wisdom you’ll need…
Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse 2025

Nicole Kidman tried to warn us about that dang Blood Moon on Practical Magic.
What is a Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse?
A total lunar eclipse occurs when the Sun, Earth and Moon line up at a certain angle so the Moon passes through the Earth’s shadow.
When this happens, the moon turns a blood reddish colour, hence the name.
It’s relatively rare, given the last one was in November of 2022 and moon gazers have been eagerly awaiting this event for the last two years.
When can we see the Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse in Australia?
Set your alarms, moon babes – the cosmos is putting on a serious show this Monday, September 8. A Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse will rise in the early hours, turning the sky into a glowing, otherworldly vibe-fest.
If you’re a night owl (or an early riser chasing magic), the partial eclipse kicks off around 2:30am on the east coast. The main event – the full, fiery blood moon – will glow for about 90 minutes between 3:30am and 5am AEST. After that, the shadow slowly fades, wrapping up an hour later.

Where is the best place to see it?
No telescope? No problem. As long as the skies are clear, you’ll be able to spot the Moon glowing in the west with nothing but your own two eyes.
She’ll be shining high and bright when the eclipse kicks off – impossible to miss if the clouds play nice.
The only catch? This cosmic spectacle is short and sweet, just a couple of hours. So if the weather’s moody and clouds roll in, you might have to surrender to the mystery of divine timing. Sometimes the universe reminds us: not every magic moment is ours to control.
When is the next Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse?
Miss this one? Don’t stress – another lunar eclipse is coming in March next year, and in 2028 we’ll be treated to the big ones: total lunar and solar eclipses lighting up the whole country.
Should I charge my crystals?
Absolutely NOT. Here’s why.
